We had a few traditional dishes in England, but to be honest, so much of the cuisine in London is very international… it seemed kind of weird to put Indian and Georgian food into an England blog! Below are a few of the traditional English foods we enjoyed while in England.

Afternoon tea emerged as a tradition in England around 1840 by the Duchess of Bedford as a way to bridge the gap between lunch and dinner which typically wasn’t served until about 8pm

Bangers and Mash are sausages, typically pork, beef, or lamb served with mashed potatoes. The term "bangers" originated during World War I, when shortages led to sausages being made with fillers that caused them to explode when cooked.

Cottage pie - Consists of a ground beef base, gravy with vegetables, and a layer of mashed potatoes.
