Overall assessment of Venice –

Venice is pretty incredible. We had each been to Venice for very short stays years ago, so it wasn’t high on our list of places to see, particularly since it is so touristy and crowded. Once we were there, we quickly changed our tune. We really enjoyed Venice and wished we had given it more time. It is definitely touristy, but with good reason… it’s iconic and it’s beautiful! There is literally no other major city in the world that relies on boats as its only mode of transportation. As for crowds… we actually didn’t think it was that bad. It wasn’t nearly as crowded as San Sebastian Spain or Istanbul Turkey. We never felt like we were in a crush of people being shoved around, and we never had a problem getting a table at a restaurant. Everyone should visit Venice at least once in their life. It’s worth a few days for sure, more if you want to visit some of the other little islands and have time to just leisurely explore all the nooks and crannies and enjoy a lot of amazing food and wine!
