The food in coastal Montenegro is pretty similar to a lot of other places we have been… Mediterranean food and seafood! There is also a lot of Italian food because of the 500 years of Venetian rule. When asked, they readily admit that there isn’t really much of anything that is traditional Montenegrin. Literally only 2 dishes were mentioned. One we tried, and the other we were warned not to try. They said it is an “aquired taste” (aka nasty). So this is a very short page!
Priganice - a traditional Montenegrin dish of fluffy, deep-fried dough balls, similar to small doughnuts or fritters. Made from a simple batter of flour, water, yeast, and a pinch of salt (so largely flavorless). You dip them in honey, jam, or cheese. They were pretty good
