Overall assessment of Kotor –

The town of Kotor and the country of Montegro are incredible. We would highly recommend a visit! A lot of people visit Kotor as a day trip from Dubrovnik or as a cruise ship stop, but it really deserves more time than just a day! Kotor is absolutely beautiful! You can easily fill 3 days without even leaving the town of Kotor. Public transportation isn’t great and taxi’s are expensive, so in hind sight, we should have considered renting a car so we could have seen more of the country and outlying towns and saved on taxi’s and tours. The country is tiny – about the size of Connecticut with a population of about 650,000 and Kotor’s population is only about 8,000. It is incredibly safe, but not incredibly cheap. Especially after coming from Albania.
