Overall assessment of Bangkok -

Since we don’t love huge cities, Bangkok wasn’t really our thing. It is a lot more expensive than any other place we had visited in Southeast Asia, very hot and the public transportation was always crowded. While all of Southeast Asia was hot, Bangkok just felt worse. Maybe because it was later in the season when we were there, or maybe because there was so much pavement and buildings. That said, it is a great launching pad for the region since you can fly there from pretty much anywhere, and it is definitely worth a couple days to check out a few sights. And, of course, anyone who loves huge cities would probably really like it. Just be sure to stay close to a public transportation stop!
