Overall assessment of Sarande –

Sarande is kind of a cool town with one of the most beautiful views and fantastic promenades we’ve seen, but it’s honestly not a “must see” in our opinion. We enjoyed it, but it’s a beach town, and there isn’t a whole lot more to the town than the water and the promenade. And seriously, as much as we loved the promenade, just how many times do you need to walk back and forth on the same stretch of pavement! The monastery was cool, but that’s pretty much the only real attraction in town. We enjoyed our day trips and adventures outside of town to Gjirokaster and Butrint National Park.

If you,re ever in this part of the world, Sarande would be good for a few days especially since it’s easily reached from Corfu. Gjirokaster is more of a “must see” than Sarande (in our opinion), but it is a very small town, so only needs a day trip or a couple nights.
