SoHO and Mayfair
The boroughs of SoHo and Mayfair are side by side. We didn’t spend a lot of time here other than on a Beatles walking tour. They are both really nice and it is definitely the place to go if you want to go shopping (and drop some serious cash)!! SoHo has a ton of high-end stores, Mayfair has all kinds of custom tailors. We only have one checked suitcase and one carry on… so no shopping for me! ☹
On the Beatles tour we saw where they played their final impromptu gig on the roof top of Apple Corps Headquarters on January 30, 1969 at Number 3 Savile Row. Of course, we took the obligatory dorky tourist photo in front of the door.
We also saw the Palladium Theatre, said to have made the Beatles famous – it was following a performance here that the term “Beatlemania” was coined. Trident studio is where many famous British bands recorded including the Beatles, David Bowie, Queen, and Elton John. We also saw Abby Road Studio and the iconic crosswalk (across town in Camden), but it was starting to rain and there were so many people walking back and forth on the crosswalk (and traffic) that we didn’t bother trying to get a photo. And honestly, it looks like any other crosswalk!
