Kensington

The Royal borough of Kensington is a borough a bit further West of Westminster. We went there primarily to see Kensington Palace.

Kensington Palace is the official residence of William and Kate, but they don’t spend much time there. They mostly reside in a “cottage” in Windsor. Queen Victoria was born and spent her childhood there, and Diana lived there when she was princess. It was originally the “country home” for William III and Mary II in 1689.

Notting Hill is a district within Kensington. The whole area is pretty and clearly high rent district. The main reason to go there is to hit yet another spectacular market (Portobello Market) and snap a photo of the iconic blue door from the Julie Roberts/Hugh Grant movie “Notting Hill”.
