Overall assessment of Crete -

Crete is pretty amazing! The island is huge and has gorgeous mountains, pretty beaches and some nice towns with great old towns. Because it is so big, so you can spend a really long time here and still not see it all. There is a lot to see and do - fortresses, archeological sites, charming villages, wineries, and (of course) beaches. Just don’t go prior to April 15th! It is dead and cold. We really couldn’t enjoy all the island had to offer because we were simply there too early in the season. For that reason, we may actually go back at some point in the future - and time it better.

We thought the prices were reasonable (during off season) and the people were decent. Not overly friendly or helpful, but basically nice.
